Black Bart Neighborhood South Lake Tahoe

This neighborhood was named after a notorious Wells Fargo Stagecoach robber, Black Bart.  Black Bart was an English-born American West Outlaw best remembered for leaving poetic messages after two of his robberies.  Known as a gentleman bandit, Black Bart was responsible for robbing 28 Wells Fargo Stages in Northern California and Southern Oregon during the 1870’s and 1880’s.  Historians claim he was scared to death of horses, always acted gentlemanly, and never fired a shot.

This small area of under 200 homes has anything from vintage A-Frames, and historic cabins, to newer construction homes with meadow and mt. views.  Home Prices currently vary from $200,000 to $700,000 with an average around $400,000.

Giving you the best of both worlds, Black Bart Neighborhood in South Lake Tahoe is located close to town yet in the county.  Located between Pioneer Trail and Sierra Tract, this neighborhood has the peaceful serenity of county living yet is still biking distance to many attractions.  Black Bart connects Sierra Blvd to Pioneer trail, so houses in the Black Bart area have easy access to either of Tahoe’s major arteries, Pioneer Trail and Highway 50.  Pioneer Trail near Black Bart holds a plethora of biking, hiking, and dog walking trails.  Some of the other attractions that make Black Bart’s central location so desirable are shopping, dining, nightlife, Lake Tahoe Community College, Trout Creek, Cold Creek, Truckee River, Reagan Beach, Eldorado Beach, Secret Beach, Mt. bike trails, Bijou Community Park; which holds a world class 27 hole Frisbee golf course, a bmx and skate park, basketball courts, volleyball courts, a fitness trail, a dog park,  and a picnic pavilion.  Bijou golf course is another popular public destination in the neighborhood.  The course features top notch views of Heavenly as well as Freel Peak.   From the Black Bart area the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Center is a short bike ride.  The center features an indoor ice skating rink, indoor swimming pool, weight room, basketball court, ping pong table, and plenty of other activities to keep you active and healthy.  It’s all very close to Black Bart and makes it a great central and easy location to base camp from.
